How it started?

In the late 1990's, a friend of mine which has a large HO scale layout, approached me with a request to make some ZAR signals for him.

Always one for a challenge and having plenty of experience in electronics and plastic kit building, I accepted.

Admittedly my first few attempts looked a bit suspect, but gradually the end result started to resemble the real thing.

The biggest challenge was to develop manufacturing processes for certain components. One example is the cover that goes on to each signal light.

What it is made of?

I use the following materials for the signals:
  1. Styrene plastic strips and sheets by Evergreen.
  2. 1.6mm Aluminium tubes by K&S metals.
  3. 38 SWG Enamelled copper wire.
  4. Surface mount LED's by Kingbright.
